Yves Klein Blue

July 3, 2009

It’s always nice when a plan comes together. With their debut LP now on store shelves, Yves Klein Blue would probably agree. Two years since they won the MTV Kickstart competition, the Brisbane four-piece have navigated numerous industry pitfalls to release an expertly crafted slice of indie pop. From the jaunty intro of Make Up Your Mind through the Whitlams-esque Getting Wise and the commercial juggernaut that is Polka, this is a refreshingly upbeat, bright and breezy debut. Sure, they’re doing nothing new, but they know their way around a pop hook and could play melodies for days. Dew Process/Universal
