Plastic Beach

RATING:

It’s been five years since the last Gorillaz album. In that time co-creator Damon Albarn has explored all sorts of musical horizons and even gotten Blur back together for a stint. While that’s all good and well, Gorillaz is the money shot – the project that brings together all those disparate elements in one chart topping, cash-raking, million-selling epic. On that note, Plastic Beach doesn’t disappoint. The first single, Stylo, has already proven its mantle, and the rest of the album maintains that same perfectly balanced mix of future pop and indie credibility. A welcome return for everyone’s favourite virtual band. By Mikolai Napieralski
